After the inaugural T20I tournament victory, India has been a supreme power in the T20I format. The No.3 rank holders have a decent batting order comparing its challengers.
Openers: Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are team India's regular T20I openers. But there are other alternatives in the team. KL Rahul, Ambati Rayudu also already proved their strength in the position. Virat Kohli, althought not tested in International matches has proved his robustness in IPL in the opening position. But in the past Indian team had some exceptional T20I openers. Virender Sehwag-Gautham Gambhir combo has produced lot of amazing opening partnerships.
Top Order: Usually Virat Kohli appears in the 3rd batting position in T20I's. But Suresh Raina some times alters the position. Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer also the options in the top order for the Indian team. Kohli's presence in the top order is sure strength for Men In Blue. He is capable of changing the pace of the game. Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singhm MS Dhoni was the top order strength in the past. But current line up looks well built.
Middle Order: MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya makes fireworks for team India in the middle order. They are capable of extending any smaller total for the team. Dinesh Karthik is also a sturdy player in the position. KL Rahul also played innings in this position, but wasn't consistent. Irfan Pathan, Rohit Sharma were doing this task in the past. But compared to them current team is doing exceptionally well.
Fast Bowlers: The fast bowling department of Indian T20I team is currently managed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav. There are also other active participants in the positions like Jaydev Unadkat, Sidharth Kaul for team India. India had some amazing pacers in the past for T20I format. Some of the noticeable players are RP Singh, S Sreesanth, Irfan Pathan for team India. But the current pacers have the talent to manage their duty.
Spinners: Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar has already proved their skills by bowling in the powerplay overs. They youngsters limits the opponent batsmen's in the crucial overs. Axar Patel, R Ashwin gives key performances for the team. Young Kuldeep Yadav has showed his bowling variations in IPL. The spin department looks stronger with the presence of these players. Harbhajan Singh was the dominant T20I spinner in the past for the Men In Blue. The current team have spinners with different variations, so considering the current performances, spin department looks fit.
All Rounders and Fielding Department
All-Rounders: Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Axar Patel are the notable all rounders in the T20I format for India. We can also include W Sundar in the list. Hardik Pandya was brilliant with his batting and bowling skills. Pandya gives good knocks from both departments. Above mentioned spinners also done some match winning performances for the team. Irfan Pathan, Joginder Sharma, Yusuf Pathan had duties in this position for Indian team in the past. Comparing the current and previous, both looks similar.
Fielding Department: Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli has been excellent in the fielding department for team India in T20I's. Yuvraj Singh was one of the greatest fielders of T20I's for India. Robin Uthappa was also a good performer in the department. Current Indian T20I team have an upper hand comparing the previous fielding department.
MS Dhoni was the wicket keeper for Indian T20I team from the beginning of the format. He was exceptional behind the stumps. He has made 78 dismissals for India team, which is highest by a wicket keeper in this format. These stats itself will clarify any doubts on the argument. Dinesh Karthik takes the keeping duties in Dhoni's absence. KL Rahul is also a decent considerable pick for the Indian T20I team.
