Russian World Cup has been a collection of long fortuitous episodes. There was some shocking performances and some unexpected showings. Now it's almost reached the climax as France or Croatia are assigned to take the final throne. Along with the final title, FIFA will award various other awards for individual performances.

Golden Ball has been best in the list. The award will be presented to the best player in each World Cup. It is decided by the FIFA technical committee and media representatives. This award has introduced in the 1982 event and is one of the most crucial award in any football players career. Messi was the winner of the  previous tournament. In this article we are presenting a list of players who can win the greatest throne.  

Danijel Subasic

The Monacco FC goal keeper has been brilliant at Russia. His role was crucial in guiding the Croatian side to the finals. The goalkeeper had 2 clean sheets in his group stage match with one was against the well built Argentina. The Croatian defense looked a little weaker with the absence of an experienced mid fielder. 

Subasic had to face tough bout from the opponents in the round of 16. Croatia's qualifications in the knock out matches was in the hands of the goalie. He rescued the team in the round of 16 against Denmark and in the quarter final match against hosts, Russia. There was some crucial saves in their semi final clash against England. After conceding the first goal, Subasic doesn't lost his confidence and made some clinical saves.

Subasic will have heavy duties in their final against France. Mpabba led attacking side will surely be a challenge for the No.1 Monacco FC goal keeper. As both team are in excellent mood, the match may go for extra time and further. If Subasic performed well, Croatia can lift their 1st World Cup title at Russia.   

Edinson Cavani

The Uruguayan side performed well at Russia. The team finished their group stage bout as the table topper. The team thrashed Portugal in the round of 16 but failed to maintain the pace against France. A 2-0 net shake opened Uruguay's door out of the World Cup.

If we evaluate the performance,  Edinson Cavani will be the star player for his side. Luis Suarez, Cavani combination were deadly for the opponents. Suarez's role was strike the ball, but Cavani was impressive in passes and possession. The Paris Saint German F.C forward was a versatile performer in the field having control in throughout the ground.

Edinson Cavani showcased his talent in the opening match itself.  The forward created a lot of chances in the front but Suarez wasn't in a mood to finish it. In his next match against Saudi Arabia, Cavani looked a bit shy in the field. But he returned well in their next bout against Russia. Edinson Cavani showcased his full talent against Portugal in the round of 16. Cavani's 2 goals helped the team to go forward. If he hasn't caught with injury, Uruguayan team may defeated the French squad in the quarter finals.

Artem Dyzuba

Russia's golden journey in the tournament has came to an end as the hosts were defeated by Croatia in the quarter finals.  Cherishev has been the hero for the team in the event, but there was a unnoticed performance from Artem Dyzuba for the side. When Cherishev scored a hattrick in the tournament opener, Dyzuba's goal became unnoticed. The 62 minute goal against Egypt once again became irrelevant for the side. A penalty against Spain once again faded.

Forgetting all these, Artem Dyzuba was brilliant in the field. His agility, speed and ball possession was crucial in leading his side to the quarter finals. There was a good chemistry between Aleksander Golovin, Denis Cheryshev and Artem Dyzuba in the first round. 

The Saint Petersburg forward created numerous goal scoring opportunities for his national side. Before the World Cup, Artem Dyzuba and the team manager wasn't in a good relation. It was seemed to be a worry for the teammates. But everything got solved as Russia started to involve in the game. Artem Dyzuba deserves appraisal for leading his side to the best. 

N'Golo Kante

The Chelsea FC midfielder, N'Golo Kante was exceptional for his side at Russia. He was considered as the best performer in the planet and as expected, Kante became a key player for the team. There was some dodgy performance in the midfield from the forward. But his tackles, decision making, ball winning makes him as the best player in the competition.

N'Golo Kante's marking to Lionel Messi in their round of 16 match was well appreciated by the football world. There would have been many strikes from the Argentinian forward, if Kante cared on the striker. In the quarter final match, France team thrashed Uruguay for a 2-0 margin. Kante's role was crucial in blocking the counter strikes of Uruguay team.  

N'Golo Kante's presence in the midfield helped Paul Pogba to be a part of some attacks. Aiming attacks to the French goal post was a tough task for the opponents as N'Golo Kante looked like a guardian of the French side.

Luka Modric

Luka Modric has been an excellent leader for his side. He taught how to lead a team with average players and to dominate against any well built teams. Luka Modric was a well accepted mid fielder before the World Cup only. But the Real Madrid No.10 once again reminded us his talent. The Croatia fans are in high expectations as the team reached to finals.

Croatia had a dream journey at Russia. Although placed in a tough group, Croatia never expected a that they will became table toppers in the group round. Luka Modric's penalty added 2-0 win in their tournament opener against Nigeria. But thrashing Argentina for a 3-0 margin was shocking for the football fans. Luka Modric scored a goal in the match and played a crucial role in marking Lionel Messi. Denmark and Croatia were the opponents in the knock out matches. Both match favored his team and performed brilliantly under the pressure.

As the Croatian side defeated England in the semi finals, Luka Modric's and team showcased best performance in Croatian football team history. If the skipper maintained the winning streak at Russia, it will be a significant year for the Real Madrid No.10.
