1. New Zealand
New Zealand holds the record of highest totals in the Champions Trophy Tournament. The achievement was against the delicate U.S.A in the 2004 edition. Batting first Kiwi's got trouble in the beginning. But opener Nathan Astle stayed strong in the other end. He blasted an excellent 145 runs from 151 balls. Styris gave him a good backup (75) in the middle order. But McMilan was in furious mode, his 27 balls 60 took the New Zealand team to a mammoth 347 total. On defending U.S.A lost all their wickets at 137 runs.
The second highest total of 338 runs was generated in 2017 Champions Trophy tournament final by Pakistan against India. Batting first, Pakistan got an excellent 128 runs opening partnership. After Azhar Ali lost his wicket at 59, Fakhar Zaman started adding runs to the score card. He blasted 114 runs. Mohammad Hafeez added a quick 57 runs to the total. On reply, India lost all their wickets at 158 runs.
Team India's 331 runs placed third in the list. The achievement was against South Africa in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. India got a good start from Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan after winning said to bat first. The openers added 127 runs after Rohit dismissed for 57 runs. Shikhar Dhawan continued dominating over the protease bowlers and blasted 114 runs from just 94 balls. The middle order batsmen's supported well with two digit numbers. Ravindra Jadeja's cameo 47 helped the team to reach the huge total. On reply, South Africa made a chasing effort but ended their hopes in 305 runs.
In the 2009 edition Champions Trophy England blasted 323 runs against South Africa and is the 4th highest in the overall tournament. After losing England openers in a quick session, Owais Shah and Paul Collingwood added 163 partnership for the 3rd wicket. Shah scored 98 runs and Collingwood added 82 runs. Eoin Morgan made a quick 67 runs from 37 balls and expected a target above 350. But poor support from other players limited the target to 324. On reply, although skipper Graeme Smith led from the front with 141 runs, no other players were able to back up him. South Africa ended their hopes in 301 runs.
5. Sri Lanka
In the 2017 Champions Trophy group stage, India witnessed one of the greatest tournament chases from Sri Lanka. Batting first, with the courtesy of Shikhar Dhawan's ton and MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma's half century, India set up a mammoth 322 runs target. On reply, Sri Lanka lost their first wicket at 11 runs. But, Dhanushka Gunathilak(76) and Kusal Mendis(89) raised a match winning partnership of 159 runs. After their dismissals, middle order players supported on chasing the target. Sri Lanka won the match with 10 balls and 4 wickets to spare. India's 321 total is considered as the sixth highest total in ICC Champions Trophy.
In the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy group stage match, India thrashed Pakistan for 124 runs with the courtesy of 319 total. In the rain effected match India's in form batsmen's Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma given a 131 runs opening partnership for the team. With Dhawan contributing 68 runs and Rohit added 91 runs. Virat Kohli done a marvelous 81 runs and Yuvraj Singh contributed a half century cameo. On reply, Pakistan lost all their wickets at 161 runs.
7. Sri Lanka
In the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy edition, Sri Lanka scored 319 runs against South Africa and is one of the highest totals in the tournament. Batting first opener Tilakaratne Dilshan scored 106 runs from just 92 balls. Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara added half centuries to the total. On reply, South Africa added 206 runs in the 37 th over. But the rain effected match gifted Sri Lanka a win of 55 runs.
8. South Africa
South Africa's 316 runs total against Kenya in the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy is the 8th highest total in the list. Batting first, Hershelle Gibbs and Graeme Smith made excellent batting performance by contributing 116 and 69 runs in the opening wicket. Jacques Kallis added a 60 runs and performed a key role in the total. On reply, Kenya lost all their wickets at 140 runs resulting a 176 runs defeat.
9. New Zealand
New Zealand's 317 runs stays 9th in the highest totals of Champions Trophy. In their match against Sri Lanka openers Jesse Ryder and Brendon McCullum added 125 runs opening partnership. Ryder added 74 and McCullum contributed 46 runs. Martin Guptill's 66 in the top order was also crucial in the target. Daniel Vittori scored 46 runs in the tail end. On reply, all the Sri Lankan batters went to the dressing room at 277.
England's 310 against New Zealand placed in top 10 of the highest totals of Champions Trophy. Batting first with the courtesy of Alex Hales, Joe Root and Jos Buttler's half century England raised the huge total for New Zealand. Each player had a two digit runs in England's score card(except 2 tail enders). On reply, New Zealand ended their chasing hopes at 223 runs .
